The Mechanical design,manufacturing and its automation originated from the major in Forest harvesting and transportation in the early years of the university. It officially enrolled students under the current major name in 2003 and enrolled international students in 2016. This major was listed as a key major of Zhejiang Province in 2009, as an emerging specialty of Zhejiang Province in 2014, and as a first-class major construction point of Zhejiang Province in 2019. In 2011, it was approved as a master's program in Agricultural Mechanization.In 2014, as a master's program in Mechanical Engineering, and in 2018 as a doctoral program in Forestry Engineering to establish the direction of Forestry Equipment and Informatization. There are 29 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 7 associate professors, 1 senior engineer, and 1 senior experimentalist, 69% of the teachers have a doctor's degree and 1 provincial and ministerial level talent. The teachers form a teaching and research team with high educational level, reasonable title structure, echelon level, and academic specialization. In the past three years, the average graduate student enrollment rate of 19.3%. In the past 3 years, students of this major have participated in many first-class competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition for College students, Internet +, Industrial Training Competition, China Robot Competition, National 3D Digital Competition, etc. The students have won more than 80 awards in provincial and above-discipline competitions. In 2018, we won 2 national awards, including 1 first prize in the National competition. In 2019, we won 9 national awards, including 2 first prizes in the national competition. In 2020, we won 12 national awards, including 5 first prizes in the national competition.
The major aims to cultivate senior applied engineering talents who can meet the needs of modern social economy and high-quality development of regional manufacturing industry, cultivate comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic skills, master mathematics, natural science and professional knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, have engineering practical ability and innovation spirit, humanistic and professional qualities, and can be competent to work in mechanical engineering and related fields such as mechanical product design and manufacturing, application research, testing and control, and operation and management.
Core courses: Engineering drawing, Theoretical Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, Mechanical Principles, Mechanical Design, Engineering materials, Fundamentals of Mechanical Manufacturing, Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronic Technology, Fundamentals of Control Engineering, and Fundamentals of Mechanical Precision Design and testing.
Graduation criteria: The minimum credits for graduation are 177 credits, including 168 credits for in-class teaching and 9 credits for extra-curricular education.
